Margarita machines FAQs

Q: What are some popular recipes for frozen margarita machines?
A: If you only have one machine, chances are you are going to have to refill it at your party. While the first batch you make can be made directly in the machine, latter batches should be pre-mixed and chilled. This will shorten the time it takes to freeze them (also, most machines let you add the drink as you go so that there is no waiting between batches). Here are a few favorite recipes:

Standard Margarita

Ingredients:
•1/2 gallon margarita mix
• 2 and 1/2 cups tequila
• 1/2 cups triple sec
• 1 gallon water

Strawberry Colada

Ingredients:
• 2 liters light rum
•1/2 gallon strawberry mix
• ½ gallon pina colada mix
• 2 gallons water

Note: you can add more or less alcohol to taste. Also, your batch size depends upon the size of your machine. If you are renting a machine, check with the company you are renting it from for recipes.

Q: How much does it cost to rent a margarita machine?
A: The overall cost depends on multiple factors: whom you rent the machine from, which type of machine you want, how large it is, how readily available the machines are at the time you want one, etc. In general, though, you can expect to spend between $125 and $300. Usually the cost of delivery, setup, and pickup is included, as well as cups, straws, and other such items. Verify with the company first, though, to see that there are no additional costs. Very likely, you will only need to supply the electricity and the alcohol.

Q: How long does it take before the margaritas are ready?
A: You certainly do not want to wait until right before the guests are scheduled to arrive to turn on the margarita machine. It can take up to 2 hours before the drinks are slushy and ready to serve. Check with the company you are renting it from to find out the exact times (the times can vary based on the size of the machine and whether you are using it outdoors or indoors. For instance a machine may take only 45 minutes if used indoors, but an hour if used outdoors on a sunny day).
